Gov. Radda Addresses Soaring Prices, Urges Security Measures

In a bid to tackle the escalating costs of food and commodities in Katsina State, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda convened a 'strategic meeting' on Friday with key stakeholders in the state.

The gathering, graced by dignitaries such as Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, Emir of Katsina, and Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq Umar, saw the presence of notable figures like Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Yahya, State Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, and Grand Khadi of Katsina, Justice Kabir Abubakar.

Other attendees included the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, heads of security outfits, and select members of the State Executive Council.

Governor Radda, addressing the gathering, acknowledged the daily surge in essential commodity prices, causing hardship for residents. He highlighted recent demonstrations in Niger and Kano states due to similar concerns.

Attributing the escalating prices to mass exports to neighboring countries and hoarding by some individuals, the governor emphasized the need for strategic interventions.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration's commitment to empowering communities in Katsina with training and logistical support to fend off criminal attacks. Expressing grave concern over the state's security, he called for collective efforts to combat the rising insecurity.

The governor lamented the bandits' adoption of reinforcement from neighboring forests to launch attacks and kidnap citizens, irrespective of their economic status.
